Biography

From Karachi's Streets to Parliament

Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan was born on 26 October 1971 in Karachi and grew up in a family rooted in education, with his father serving as a school teacher. Coming from a modest background, his journey into public life began at 17 when he joined the MQM as a student activist in 1989.

He has served as MPA for PS-99 (2008 to 2013), also acting as Advisor to the Chief Minister, and later as Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly (2013 to 2018). He continued as MPA for PS-124 (2018 to 2023) and is currently serving as MNA from NA-247 (2024 to present), building a strong voter base in middle-class urban constituencies.

Academically, he holds a BSc and LL.B from the University of Karachi and an MBA in IT from PIMSAT. Professionally, he is a practicing Senior Advocate and leads Khawaja Izhar and Law Associates, alongside his involvement in the construction sector in Karachi.

He remains committed to public service, community development, and representing his constituents effectively. His consistent on-ground presence during emergencies, Ramadan drives, and weekly constituency sessions reflects that commitment in practice.

Urban Representation
Built on a career representing middle-class constituencies across Karachi. Every position taken in Parliament reflects the realities of urban Pakistani life.
Rule of Law
Over 25 years of legal practice grounding every policy position in constitutional principle. Law is a check on power, not a tool of it.
Community Service
Consistent on-ground presence during floods, Ramadan, and public emergencies. Public service does not pause between parliamentary sessions.
Open Access
Weekly constituency meetings providing direct engagement without intermediaries. Governance begins with listening to the people it is meant to serve.
